About
Welcome to St George’s Church, Pontesbury, Shropshire, England.
The origins of St George’s church can be traced to about 1250, but the church was largely restored in the 19th century. For a small village, population around 3,500, it is large, and has a very active and lively congregation. Pontesbury is a rural community, and extends a warm welcome to all visitors. St George’s is open to all during daylight hours, but is closed at night.
Here are a few pictures of our area. We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are well worth a visit, and you can find us on the Shropshire Churches Tourism Group here. You can stop a slide by hovering over it, or move on by clicking on the side arrows.
